Brian Cohen, 1983
A good small guitar, with cedar top, and shape as per Hauser 1 1935 (ex Victoria Kingsley). Fine grained cedar top, edged with herringbone purfling, and typical rosette as was in use at the time, with matching herringbone edging, echoed in the headstock. Back and sides purfled with double inset inlay, back with round 'Torres' style heel, neck/head joined by tapered V joint, and Reischl gold plated tuners, in 'as new' condition. The fingerboard has the Hauser 1 feature of a thin soft wood pad under the board where it covers the table, and the end of the board follows the soundhole with a small table ledge left in place, both features as per the original. Good strong even tone, matured, action perfect. I made this guitar in London, 1983, and it is being offered now on behalf of the current owner due to retirement from playing. The guitar will be checked, and have new strings fitted, and all frets checked and levelled if needed before leaving my studio to ensure optimum playing.
Condition:
Table: some minor nail marks as would be expected from nearly 30 years of use, no cracks, no repairs, no distortion. Bridge has two pearl dots in wings, as per original, and a solid tie block plate with inlaid lines.
Ribs: minor use marks, but very few.
Back: is in fine condition, finish near perfect, (minor blemishes only,) but there is an old small 5 cms long hairline repair in upper bout, barely visible on outside, which is 100% stable, and has no effect at all on tone. This is an old repair, supported internally, and appears to be absolutely stable
Neck: straight, with some wear as expected, and some minor polish blemishes, all of which could be easily restored to 'new' condition with no damage/alteration at all to the guitar
Fingerboard fine, frets fine.Tuners good.

The guitar can be sent out for approval, for a 48 -hour period after receipt. However, all freight charges, inwards and outwards, must be borne by the client, import duties may be levied in some countries also to be paid by the client, and for the USA we will complete and provide the 'Lacey Declaration' at no extra charge, in addition to any CITES permit needed which will be charged for. Payment must be in full in advance, and evidence provided of full insurance cover for the journey. For some of these additional services, a charge will be made. Funds will be refunded in full, provided the guitar arrives back in the shop in the same condition as when it left. If these conditions are not met, then the guitar will be considered 'Sold'. In the event of a guitar being exported which will need a CITES permit, as these permits only work 'one way' the customer will have to agree in advance in writing to apply for a return CITES from their own country, all of which may take some time and this will be obtained at the clients' own expense. No refund will be made until the guitar is returned and imported into the UK with full legal compliance with CITES and the risk of loss, damage, seizure etc will be borne by the customer until safe delivery is completed. Any import duty or VAT levied to re-import the guitar into the UK will be deducted from the refund amount to the client. To avoid all this, the best and simplest way to conduct these transactions is to visit the UK in person and try the guitar in my own premises, free of all these requirements: I am happy to arrange transport and accommodation during your stay to facilitate your visit in person.
